Step into Marrow Butchery and you’ll feel it straight away, this is a place where things are done with purpose. You won’t find anything pre-packaged or churned out here. Nick’s all about whole animal butchery, working nose-to-tail to make sure nothing goes to waste. It’s about respect, for the animal, the process, and the people he’s serving. The shop is filled goods from local producers, fresh bread, sauces, spices, rubs, dairy as well as handmade utensils and kitchen staples.
TIMELESS CRAFT:
‘Made For Nick’ Butcher & Writer, Marrow Butchery
Part craftsman, part storyteller, and 100% committed to changing the way we think about what ends up on our plates. Nick Thomson from Marrow Butchery is bringing old school traditions and techniques to a modern way of living.

Orewa’s a pretty special spot, and Nick’s butchery has quickly become part of the local rhythm. People drop by not just for what’s in the chiller, but for a yarn, some advice on how to cook that perfect steak, or just to feel connected to what they’re buying. It’s community, plain and simple.
Nick is selective about his suppliers, championing free-range, grass-fed, and regenerative farming practices. The goal? To deliver better flavour, better animal welfare, and a better outcome for the planet. It’s the same mindset we bring to sourcing our own materials, like ZQRX-certified merino wool and sustainably produced denim.
His story is a reminder to slow down, choose well, and support the people who are doing things the right way, for their craft, their community, and the environment.
